Shoomb - A Looping Dream

About: Firas Al Raisi - Shoomb - is an electronic music producer based in Muscat, Oman creating experimental downtempo, IDM, to more uptempo techno and psychedelic trance.

Originally a drummer, percussionist, rhythm based artist. Playing music with Metal, Prog-Rock and Indie bands.

Shoomb alternatively got into DJ-ing and mixing music for smaller events, but the need to create originals was still prominent.

Influenced by the sound design of psychedelic progressive rock, and the enjoyment of deep house and psytrance, and a friend suggesting an Arturia Microfreak, this opened the possibiltiies towards exploring sound synthesis and understanding gnarly waveforms.

Shoomb now performs Live shows with modular synthesizers and his DAW. Locally, in curated art events, commercial shows, as well as festivals internationally such as Mutek and HillTop Festival in Goa.

He is part of a larger group of local artists who indulge in sound experimentation as well. After 12 Collective.

Piece: This piece is a live, improvised exploration of repetition, delay, and the fragile beauty of error. Built on the backbone of old-school Berlin sequencing, the performance uses looping patterns, drifting pulses, and recursive echoes to create a sound world that is constantly forming and unforming in real time.

What begins as strict repetition eventually mutates, turning into something unexpected: hypnotic grooves, fractured memories, delayed reflections that blur into new textures.
