Piece: Improvised performance on a Chromaplane - a newly developed instrument by KOMA Elektronik and the Passepartout Duo. Containing 9 analogue oscillators in a tablet like form factor, the Chromaplane is played by moving pickups into the electromagnetic field of the oscillators. Touching the surface is not necessary, which makes for a playing experience somewhat resembling a Theremin, extracting tone from invisible magnetic clouds. In an asynchronous collaboration with Roger Alsop Jorg will play the Chromaplane through a Max patch developed by Roger. Originally developed for Alsops performance at the 2023 edition of Sound Kitchen this patch creates a random multi tap delay loop which makes an ideal improvisation framework. A short introduction of the Chromaplane itself will given for those not yet familiair with the instrument.
