Piece: The title of this piece is "Machinal Unwound", and is derived from Jeff's compositional work for the stage play "Machinal" by Sophie Treadwell. In evoking the intentionality of expressionist theatre, this piece explores consonance and dissonance to evoke emotions in broad strokes of sonic color and timbre. Listeners will note the hustle and bustle of opportunity contrasted with the oppression of authority and dominance in society in this performance with live manipulation of sampled sounds and movement in the spatial audio immersive system.
