Hsuan - 88 of Me
About: Chi-Hsuan Lo (Hsuan) is a multidisciplinary artist from Taiwan, currently based in Berlin. Rooted in experimental music, her work explores how sound can intersect with performance and spatial experience. With a background in classical piano and violin, she later studied Theatre Directing and completed a Master’s degree in Creative Music Production. Her practice encompasses interdisciplinary research in experimental music and theatre performance. In recent years, she has focused on open work and music theater, using musical logic as a framework to shape stage structures and collective interpretation.
Piece: In 88 of Me, I use my voice as the sole instrument, allowing them to occupy all 88 options on the piano and filling 8 audio channels with 88 sounds. The work explores the threshold between harmony and dissonance, navigating the grey area where stacked vocal layers blur the line between atonality and ambient music.
